Global PandemicGiven the current global health crisis, our lives have been put to a halt. This includes the postponement of Project Matuwa 2020, who were set to leave for the Philippines in May. We contacted our long-time partner organisation, Today's Responsive Youths (TRY), to find out how they were coping over at Bago City. Upon which, we hoped to help the community in whatever ways we could.
We set up a fundraiser (https://give.asia/campaign/the-children-in-bago-city#/) to accept donations of any amount. We had successfully raised $430 over the course of 3 weeks. With additional contributions from the TRY members themselves, a total of PHP 20,085.45 was raised. The procurement of the relief packs, each consisting a 25kg sack of rice and a bag of groceries, were given out to 11 families via a nomination scheme by TRY. We are very grateful to each of the donors, as well as TRY for their unending support. We had merely provided financial support, but the TRY members had settled everything else from selecting the beneficiaries, obtaining the relief packs, and delivering them personally. These required much effort and cooperation, and we thank them for taking time out of their busy schedules to make this happen. We are looking forward to the continued friendship with TRY, as well as to the resolution of the global pandemic so we can meet each other in Bago City again. |
